Dutch music, sigh!
A levenslied is a highly sentimental Dutch-language sub-genre of pop music. Typical levenslied lyrics are very sweet, highly sentimental and about subjects such as love, misery and far-away, sunny, exotic holiday places. A typical levenslied has catchy, simple rhythms and melodies, with many pop and folk tunes, and is always built up in couplets and refrains. Essential, traditional musical instruments in levenslied-music are the accordion and the barrel organ. In recent years, many levenslied-artists also use synthesizers and guitars for their music.

This type of music is very popular here in the east of Holland, I like some of it, but I actually like the older songs then. I dislike this type of music sometimes cause I guess I hear it to often and it's so wrong. Some of the workers at work like this type of music too, one worker likes it that much that he turns the radio on a channel where they play this kind of music 24 hours a day. It goes on and one, lol, the chorusses are so simple and anoying catchy. When I hear this kind of music I picture the singer or the band with a huge fake smile playing his or her accordion or the barrel organ, lol. The rhytms are always the same and it's like the singers or bands are 24 hours a day happy. This type of music is nice in a bar or somewhere where they drink alcohol. Today at work the radio was on, and was on the channel I disliked.
Hmm not really disliked, but when you hear this 'happy, happy' music a whole day at work it might get annoying. Most of the time I don't mind cause I'm at work, sometimes I even sing along or do a little dance when the song what is playing is so wrong. But yeah, a whole day, no thank you. But I managed! I managed it to listen to this type of music a whole day, the worse thing is that the wrong songs stick in your head. At the moment I'm listening to the Rolling Stones and David Bowie, just to recover, lol. Okay enough about music, this day was a nice day, only the rain. Ugh, it rained already almost for three days now. When will it stop? But I didn't get wet today for a change.
Some Dutch artists, notice the fake smiles? |
I managed to build a wooden lounge couch at work, very nice right? And without the Boss's help, I work (must say) better without the Boss's help. Sometimes he offers me help, but when he helps me he only walks in the way, or he says me things what I already know. He sometimes gives me good tips and gives me the measures of how long or high a couch or table must be. If he keeps doing that it's fine, but sometimes, don't help, lol. After work it was off to the free dinner, and it was a full house. Lots of people from Humanitas where there, some of them asked me how it was living on my own. I answered fine, I told them that I miss them but that I didn't miss the no privacy. Yeah, I like it in my house, I'm looking forward to the three days off weekend.
It can be that Henkie will visit me this weekend to lay the last bit of laminate in the kitchen, I still have 4 packages of Ikea laminate. I hope I manage it with those 4 packages, nice from Henkie that he offers help. I consider him as a friend.
